Closing Credit Card Account With Right

When you have too many credit cards, closing some of them is a good way to simplify your financial life. Before making a call, make sure to close your credit card will not hurt your credit score. For example, before you pay off your credit card, you must ensure that there are no charges on the credit card. If not, the credit card bills and credit limits may be reported in a manner that could damage your credit score.
Once you are sure that closing a credit card is the right thing to do, follow these steps to make sure the card has been closed at your request.
Contact Customer Service
Contact the customer service number of publishers who are usually located at the back of your credit card. Let the customer service representative know that you want to close a credit card account. Do not be surprised if the customer service to try to talk to you to keep it open or use a credit card. For example, they may offer to lower interest rates or to register your rewards program. If you believe you will close the account, do not let yourself be affected on this offer. Record the date and time when you make a request for the closure of a credit card.
With a follow up letter
Follow up with a letter to have a record of your credit card closure request. In the letter includes the name, address, and credit card number (or at least the last four digits of the card number). Stating that you make a request by phone to close your credit card at so, so date and you want your credit record to reflect that the account was closed at the request of your own.
Update Your Notes
Keep a copy of the letter for yourself. Send by using the services of registered mail so you have proof if the letter had been sent and received, if a time is questionable.
Check Your Credit Report
Check your credit report to ensure the credit card is reported to have closed. This will not necessarily hurt your credit score if it is not reported to have closed, but you want accurate credit report on the status of your account.
